So long, Nik.

As I write this I'm in a state of shock over the loss of such an
inspirational figure in my life. I'm both saddened at the account
of Nik's demise and frustrated with myself for not being able to
do something, anything, to stop his tragic departure. But most of all
I grieve that I will never have another conversation with Nik into
the late hours of the night, jumping from one subject to another in a
state of euphoria...

Nik showed me that is was possible, practical and even imperative to
explore and expand the boundaries of your imagination. And that you
could do it while still surviving in the heart of NYC without going
broke and limping home. He was the center of a whole community of
incredible bright, generous and almost always bizarre people (in a
good way, mostly). Many of them I came to call my friends as well...

Even though I moved out West years ago, I somehow always thought my
paths would cross with you again, Nik. I'll always cherish those years
in New York, now even more so. So long, my friend!
